Scientists of the Botany Institute under the State Academy of Sciences in the DPRK established a technology for cultivating feed crop Pennisetum glaucum×P. purpureum.

It grows 3-4 meters high and its average grass output per hectare is over 100 tons. And its fruit can be sown as seed.

Its cane and leaf are abundant in nutritive substances like crude protein and essential amino acids good for the growth of domestic animals.

The institute settled such technical problems as ensuring proper temperature for their growth, so as to opened up a prospect for mass-cultivating Pennisetum glaucum×P. purpureum.

According to the result of its trial cultivation, its sowing season for Pyongyang area is between late in April and early in May and it can be harvested three or five times a year.
