Pyongyang Medical College of Kim Il Sung University has recently developed a program “Yusan (Heritage) 1.0” for perusing “Tonguibogam”, an encyclopedic medical classics which deals with achievements made till the 16th century in developing the Koryo medicine.
Stored in its database are at least one million Chinese characters from original texts with their Korean version in five volumes, over 3 000 Koryo medical terms, data on 1 000-odd Koryo medicines and scanned original “Tonguibogam” amounting to thousands of image files together with a dictionary of 10 000 Chinese characters.
The program will be helpful to ensuring scientific accuracy and quickness in the research into Koryo medicine and putting into practice the policy of the Workers’ Party of Korea on combining modern medicine with Koryo medicine.
