The 23rd Cooking Festival took place at the Pyongyang Noodle House in Rangnang District, Pyongyang some days ago to celebrate the Day of the Sun, the birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.

Held on its first day was the exhibition of famous dishes presented by restaurants under the General Bureau of Public Catering Service, national institutions and provincial public catering establishments.

What drew attention of visitors was the entertaining and serving contest in which the public catering establishment from South Hamgyong Province and Hyangmanru Restaurant in Pyongyang won high appraisal for their tasty dishes and good service.

The festival also included the exhibition of compulsory dishes, cooking demonstrations of management staffs, cooks and waiters, cooking contest of students and exhibition of sci-tech achievements made in cooking to be highly admired by spectators.

The festival came to be an important occasion in developing the cooking techniques and culinary culture of the country and improving cooks’ skills and abilities.
