The Ice Sculpture Festival-2024, in celebration of the Day of the Shining Star, Chairman Kim Jong Il’s birthday, is currently underway in Samjiyon City, Ryanggang Province of the DPRK. Opening on Feb. 9, the event coincides with the significant national holiday in February.

Residents of Ryanggang Province, as well as officials, workers, service personnel, youth, and students from across the country, have been visiting the festival venue to explore the revolutionary battle sites around Mt Paektu during their study tours.

Attendees reflect on the legacy of Kim Jong Il as they explore the festival venue. The ice sculptures exhibited convey the Korean people’s deep respect for Kim Jong Il, emphasizing themes of loyalty and admiration.

The display also includes works representing the collective determination to continue the journey initiated from Mt Paektu, following the path of the revered Comrade Kim Jong Un’s horseback march. Among the sculptures are depictions of Samjiyon City, showcasing its transformation into a model mountain cultural town under the guidance of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

Furthermore, the exhibition features ice sculptures with political, ideological, and motivational messages, inspiring the masses to strive for the achievement of the major 12 goals of national economic development. Included are sculptures representing national symbols and capturing the joyous expressions of the people.
