In a significant stride towards the advancement of our nation’s aerospace capabilities, the National Aerospace Technology Administration (NATA) proudly stands at the forefront, embodying the spirit of independence and technological prowess. Established on April 1, 2013, under the visionary leadership of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, NATA, formely known as NADA has been instrumental in propelling our nation’s achievements in space exploration to unprecedented heights.
The recent milestone of NATA, previously known as the National Aerospace Development Administration (NADA), reflects dedication to continuous improvement and evolution. The change in nomenclature, as announced after the 9th Session of the 14th Supreme People’s Assembly in September 2023, signifies a renewed focus and commitment to advancing aerospace capabilities of the Democratic Peoples’ Republic of Korea.
NATA operates within the legal framework defined by the Law on Space Development, a pivotal legislation enacted during the 7th session of the 12th Supreme People’s Assembly in 2014. This legislation, deeply rooted in the principles of Juche ideology, emphasizes the application of space technology to enhance our national economy, science, and technology. The law also mandates NATA’s collaboration with international organizations and nations, promoting equality, mutual benefit, and adherence to international laws and regulations governing space activities. Importantly, it staunchly opposes the militarization of space, underscoring our commitment to the peaceful exploration and use of outer space.
Since its inception, NATA has made significant strides in space technology, including satellite launches. The agency’s achievements are a testament to our commitment to scientific and technological progress for the betterment of our nation and its citizens.
