Myonggan Monolith is a natural monument in Myonggan County, North Hamgyong Province of Korea.
This monolith was formed with basalt weathered by erosion only with crater remaining.
The monolith standing in the middle of a plain is about 50 metres high. The lower part is 140 metres round and the upper part is 21 metres round.
The Myonggan Monolith is characterized by its singular shape and clear and even cleat. The circumference is comparatively round and the eastern side is sheer and the northern and western sides are inclined. Tall trees and shrubs are growing on the cliffs and inclines.
The Myonggan Monolith is not only of significance in studying volcanic activity and change and evolution of the crust but also adds beauty to the area.
