Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un recently visited the newly completed Pyongyang General Hospital, a world-class medical facility built as part of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK)’s vision to modernize public healthcare and ensure that the people of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) receive the most advanced medical services. This remarkable achievement stands as a proof of the country’s commitment to improving public health and creating a modern socialist society where citizens can enjoy longer, healthier lives.

On February 27, Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the WPK and President of State Affairs of the DPRK, inspected the hospital to personally assess its facilities. Accompanying him were Pak Thae Song, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee and Premier of the DPRK Cabinet, as well as senior officials from the Party, public health sector, and construction teams. Upon arrival, he was welcomed by hospital officials and representatives from the design and construction units.

During the visit, he carefully examined various sections of the hospital, including the emergency department, specialized treatment areas, general operating theatre, conference hall, service facilities, and rooftop helipad. He reviewed the overall construction, ensuring that all aspects met the highest standards in modern medical architecture. He noted that the hospital fully embodies the WPK’s policy of prioritizing public health, with its advanced inpatient and outpatient services, cutting-edge medical equipment, and seamless operational design.

He expressed particular satisfaction with the general operating theatre, which includes 30 surgical rooms, built to provide optimal conditions for safe, precise, and efficient medical procedures. While touring the hospital’s restaurant and other service areas on the top floor, he remarked that the facility not only offers advanced medical care but also ensures that patients and visitors can experience a comfortable and civilized environment. He described the hospital as a symbol of the nation’s progress, reflecting the DPRK’s unwavering dedication to protecting the health and well-being of its people.

Kim Jong Un praised the builders, engineers, and medical professionals who contributed to the successful completion of this monumental project, recognizing their hard work and devotion to upholding the WPK’s vision for a thriving public health system. He emphasized that no effort should be spared in preparing the hospital for full-scale operation and stressed the importance of reinforcing emergency response systems to ensure efficiency, readiness, and mobility in urgent medical situations.

He also highlighted the need for expanding the DPRK’s healthcare infrastructure by using the Pyongyang General Hospital as a model for future medical centers across the country. He reaffirmed the WPK’s commitment to developing a highly specialized and advanced network of hospitals, ensuring that citizens in all regions benefit from world-class medical services.

Speaking to the medical community, he underscored that the success of a hospital ultimately depends on its doctors and nurses, urging them to continuously improve their expertise and medical skills. He called for the introduction of specialized training programs, telemedicine services, and enhanced collaboration between central and regional hospitals, all aimed at raising the overall standard of medical care across the DPRK.

Observing the panoramic view from the hospital, overlooking the picturesque Taedong River, Kim Jong Un described the facility as a monumental achievement in socialist public health, reflecting the DPRK’s aspirations for a highly civilized and modern state. He reaffirmed that public health is a key measure of a country’s strength, political climate, and national development and emphasized that it remains the WPK’s firm determination to lead a new revolution in public healthcare.

The Pyongyang General Hospital is set to open in October, marking the 80th anniversary of the WPK. Before its inauguration, final preparations, including the installation and testing of medical equipment, will take place to ensure the hospital operates at the highest level. The completion of this facility is yet another step toward the realization of a strong and prosperous socialist nation, where the health and well-being of the people always come first.
