Ri Su Yong, chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the DPRK Supreme People’s Assembly who is member of the Political Bureau and vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, on January 31 had a talk with the visiting delegation of politicians from various political parties in Europe led by Jonathan Powell of the British Labor Party, former Downing Street Chief of Staff to Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Ri Su Yong said that the Party and people are launching a revolutionary general offensive to achieve fresh victory on all the fronts of building a powerful socialist country true to the New Year Address made by respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un.
He informed the delegation of the situation on the Korean Peninsula in which the climate of national reconciliation, unity and détente is being created thanks to the DPRK’s proactive measure and sincere efforts.
Jonathan Powell welcomed the recent phase of detente on the Korean Peninsula thanks to the DPRK’s proactive proposal, hoping that such trend will be kept.
Members of the delegation acknowledged that development of the relations between the DPRK and Europe is a contribution to interests of both sides and peace and stability of the world, expressing their will to continue dialogue between the Workers’ Party of Korea and various political parties and politicians of Europe in the future, too.
