The DPRK marks the tree-planting day.

President Kim Il Sung mounted Moran Hill on March 2, Juche 35 (1946) to unroll a plan for turning the land of the country into a paradise for the people and kindled the torch of tree-planting movement.

Meetings took place in the DPRK on Thursday on the occasion of the tree-planting day (March 2).

They included a meeting of youth league organizations and young people in compound of the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren’s Palace, a meeting of workers and other working people in compound of the Central Botanical Garden, a meeting of agricultural workers and members of the Agricultural Workers’ Union in compound of the Mangyongdae Revolutionary Museum and a meeting of women’s union officials and members at the arboretum of the Central Botanical Garden.

Attending the meetings were Pak Kwang Ho, Kim Phyong Hae, O Su Yong, An Jong Su and other senior party and government officials, officials of working people’s organizations, commissions and ministries and national institutions and working people from different walks of life and youth and students.

Reports and speeches were made there.

Reporters and speakers stressed the need to further expand the successes in the forest restoration campaign this year marking the 70th birthday of the DPRK, true to respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un‘s plan for building a powerful socialist country.

At the end of the meetings there were demonstrations of planting trees as required by technical regulations.

The senior party and government officials planted various species of trees and bushes together with working people and youth and students.

On the same day officials and working people across the country held similar meetings and did spring tree-planting.
