In celebration of the nation’s greatest and most auspicious holiday in April, the 60th National Students and Children’s Art Festival has opened.
This year’s festival is divided into different categories: a folk song contest by members of art groups at students’ palaces, individual performances by students and children, and comprehensive art performances by students from each province.
The opening ceremony took place on April 8 at the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren’s Palace.
Officials from relevant sectors and many students and children participated in the event.
Mun Chol Dong, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League, delivered a report.
In his speech, he emphasized that Respected Fatherly Leader Marshal Kim Jong Un, who always places work for the younger generation as a top priority, has poured boundless love and affection into renewing students’ palaces and camps, personally visiting newly built schools and extracurricular educational facilities to ensure that the bright sounds of children’s reading and singing echo louder across the country.
He mentioned that during the festival, all students and children should learn from each other’s good experiences and further improve their artistic skills, and then declared the official opening of the 60th National Students and Children’s Art Festival.
