The symposium on space science and technology-2017 opened with due ceremony at the Sci-Tech Complex here Tuesday under the sponsorship of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Science and Technology of Korea (GFSTK).
Taking part in it are various units including Kim Il SungUniversity, Kim Chaek University of Technology, the State Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Social Sciences, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection.
Introduced there will be more than 280 valuable papers dealing with the significance and importance of peaceful space development and the achievements and application experience gained in space conquest such as manufacture of artificial earth satellites and control technology.
The symposium, divided into artificial earth satellite, space materials and elements, basic science, application and social science panels, will include lectures on “space environment”, “space materials” and “space conquest”.
Present at its opening ceremony were officials of the GFSTK Central Committee of the General Federation, officials concerned, scientists, technicians, teachers, researchers and postgraduate students.
Ri Won Chol, chairman of the Korea Space Association, made an opening speech.
The symposium will last until Dec. 1.
