A national rally of the Korean Children’s Union (KCU) was held in Pyongyang on February 16 to celebrate the 83rd birth anniversary of Kim Jong Il.
Attending the event were students from Mangyongdae Revolutionary School and Kang Ban Seok Revolutionary School, as well as Children’s Union representatives from each province, students from Pyongyang, and new members joining the KCU.
Also present were Choe Dong Myong, Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) Central Committee, Kim Jong Sun, Director of the WPK Central Committee, officials from the Socialist Patriotic Youth League, as well as model workers and meritorious citizens invited to the ceremony.
Mun Chol Dong, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League, delivered a speech, emphasizing Kim Jong Il’s lifelong commitment to the education and well-being of children.
He highlighted how Kim Jong Il provided the best conditions for the nation’s youth, establishing palaces and camps for children in the most prestigious locations, ensuring that the song “We Have Nothing to Envy in the World” remains the anthem of happiness for future generations.
He further noted that this legacy of love and devotion continues unchanged under Kim Jong Un, who carries on the mission of fostering a bright future for the nation’s children.
The speaker urged all Children’s Union members to remain loyal to Kim Jong Un, preparing themselves to become passionate young revolutionaries and patriots who will build a strong and prosperous Korea.
A swearing-in ceremony was held for new members joining the Korean Children’s Union.
Led by Choe Dong Myong, the young students took an oath of allegiance to the organization.
Officials, meritorious citizens, and model workers then helped the new members by tying the red neckerchiefs and attaching the Children’s Union badges to their uniforms.
The newly inducted students proudly shouted the slogan: “Always be ready for the socialist motherland!”
Following the ceremony, speeches were given by:
- Pak In Ho, a Hero of the Republic and guide at the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum
- Ryu Sun Hee, principal of Munsin Elementary School in Tongdaewon District
- Kim Kum Yong, a table tennis player from the Torchlight Sports Team
The event concluded with a strong message of pride, loyalty, and enthusiasm among the young members, reaffirming their role in shaping the future of the nation.
