The Kumsong Tractor Factory, an important site for agricultural machinery production in the DPRK, has completed the second phase of its modernization project. This upgrade is part of ongoing efforts to improve the country’s agricultural sector through better mechanization and efficiency.

Kim Jong Un first visited the factory in 2017, emphasizing the need for modernization to support the country’s farming industry. He provided guidance on making it a model factory for machinery production. In August 2023, he visited again to check on the first phase of improvements and gave further instructions for the next steps.

With the efforts of workers, engineers, and military builders, the factory has been upgraded to a more modern production system. The improvements include a streamlined manufacturing process, better automation, and new facilities such as a high-precision machining area, plastics workshop, and a modernized painting facility. These upgrades are expected to improve production efficiency and ensure the quality of agricultural equipment.

An official ceremony marking the completion of the second phase was held on February 15, attended by Premier Pak Thae Song, other government officials, and factory workers. During the event, it was emphasized that the factory’s modernization is a step toward increasing the availability of reliable farming equipment, which will support the country’s agricultural development.

Following the ceremony, attendees toured the facility to see the newly installed equipment and discuss future goals. The completion of this modernization project is seen as an important step in strengthening the country’s ability to produce essential machinery for its agricultural sector.
