“Tondollari” is one of the famous folk dances in Korea, which had been popular in the area of Hamgyong Province.

The word “Tondollari” was inflected from phrase that “dawn will break”.

This circle dance “Tondollari” is characterized by nimble movements–attractive walking and flexible and broad movements of wrists and arms.

It is performed mainly to the tune of Janggu and drum.

The dance “Tondollari” has been newly represented by various art groups including the National Folk Art Troupe to win popularity among people. It is now successfully being carried forward as one of the nation’s cultural heritages.
