The DPRK government concentrates its efforts on flood damage rehabilitation in North Hamgyong Province of the country.
State measures have been taken to stabilize the life of inhabitants in the flood-hit areas and rehabilitate the destroyed dwelling houses and public buildings as early as possible.
Relief goods and building materials are rapidly supplied on a nationwide scale to the flood-stricken areas.
Meanwhile, emergency rehabilitation steps were taken by the province. A brisk campaign was launched to restore destroyed houses, railways, roads and bridges and drain off standing water in paddy and dry fields, clear out ditches and improve river embankments.
In recent days, some areas of the province were hit hard by stormy rainfalls and flooding.
The flooding in the province left more than 60 people dead and 25 missing and 7 980 hectares of paddy and dry fields submerged and 2 100 hectares buried or washed away.
Besides, 560 public buildings, 30 production buildings and nearly 20 educational buildings were destroyed or inundated. The flood also destroyed roads extending 79 800 meters at about 50 places and bridges of 2 215 square meters at six places and a dam of power station.
