Across the country, people in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) marked the international holiday of May Day with celebrations, as the nation continues to push toward economic goals during the final year of its current five-year plan.

On May 1, senior officials from the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and the government visited various factories and workplaces to congratulate and encourage workers. Their visits were timed with the country’s efforts to meet productivity targets for 2025.

Among the sites visited were the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex, Chollima Steel Complex, State Academy of Sciences, Namhung Youth Chemical Complex, Sangwon Cement Complex, Kim Jong Thae Electric Locomotive Complex, Kangdong Greenhouse Farm, Kim Jong Suk Pyongyang Textile Mill, and the housing construction site for 10,000 new apartments in the Hwasong area (Phase 4).

Officials—including Choe Ryong Hae, a member of the WPK Politburo Presidium—met with workers recognized for innovation and achievement, offering praise and encouragement as the country approaches the 80th anniversary of the Party’s founding.

They also took part in or observed various recreational and sports events held at the worksites, sharing time with employees and marking the holiday together.
