The DPRK doctorate was conferred on Choe Song Ho, former section chief of the Institute of Agricultural Mechanization, with due ceremony on Wednesday.

Choe invented an efficient rice-transplanting machine suited to the country’s specific conditions, true to President Kim Il Sung‘s instruction on development of such machine.

When he completed the machine, the President named it “Taedonggang” and took a step to ensure its serial production, watching the machine working.

The President saw to it that Choe was awarded Technical Innovation Pioneer Prize (gold medal) for his contribution to the comprehensive mechanization of agriculture and called him to various national meetings, having a photo session with him.

Respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un made it sure that the title of Doctor of Engineering was conferred on Choe, after being told that he failed to present a thesis out of his incurable disease.
