On February 16, the entire population and service personnel of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) joyously commemorated the Day of the Shining Star, considered the nation’s most significant auspicious holiday.
The nation was deeply moved as a wave of yearning and reverence for Chairman Kim Jong Il swept across the country on this special occasion.
A continuous stream of people expressing their admiration for Kim Jong Il visited the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the sacred temple of Juche, housing the resting places of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il. They also paid respects at statues and mosaics depicting the smiling images of the great leaders scattered throughout the nation.
Working people engaged in reflective visits to photo exhibitions held in every province and municipality, reminiscing about the noble life of Kim Jong Il. Known as the father of the people, he consistently immersed himself among them, dedicating his efforts to securing prosperity for future generations.
Throughout the nation, songs filled the air, expressing yearning for Kim Jong Il and praising his great contributions, creating a vibrant celebration of the February spring holiday.
Youth and students across the country added to the festivities with cheerful dancing parties. In Kanggye City, a model aircraft demonstration by players from the provincial air club captivated the interest of working people, youth, and students.
Pupils nationwide joined the Korean Children’s Union, embodying the unity and spirit of the younger generation.
The sounds of people’s laughter echoed at cultural recreation grounds and public catering establishments in Pyongyang, contributing to the festive atmosphere. As evening fell, fireworks illuminated the skies in Samjiyon City, known as the sacred place of the revolution, adding a dazzling display to the celebrations. Similar displays of fireworks adorned Nampho Municipality, Sinuiju, Chongjin, Hyesan, and other cities, enhancing the overall festive mood across the nation.
