A rare natural phenomenon was observed in Pyongyang and parts of South Phyongan Province on April 12, as snow fell across the region during the spring season.

The snowfall occurred due to the influence of a low-pressure system moving into the northern region. Cold air flowing from the north caused the rainfall seen in the afternoon to turn into snow in the evening hours.

This marked the first observation of April snowfall in the area since 2006. The snow, beginning around 18:00 local time, continued falling into the early hours of April 13.

In Pyongyang, the snow created a rare and remarkable scene as it settled quietly on blooming trees and city streets, presenting an unusual harmony between spring blossoms and snowflakes.
