The 38th National Science and Technology Festival has officially opened in Pyongyang, organized by the Central Committee of the General Federation of Science and Technology of Korea.
Held under the theme “A Total Sprint by the Scientific Community for the Successful Completion of the Five-Year Plan,” the event has drawn participation from over 650 officials, scientists, and engineers. Attendees were selected based on their strong performance at local science festivals and recommendations from ministries and central institutions.
The festival is divided into more than 30 categories, including metallurgy, chemistry, electricity, coal, machinery, light industry, and agriculture. Exhibits include working models, prototypes, and live demonstrations showcasing scientific achievements that support national economic development and improve living standards. Many of the entries also align with regional development initiatives.
Throughout the festival, there will be presentations and evaluations of scientific work, exchanges of new technologies and products, educational lectures, and panel discussions.
The opening ceremony was held on April 23 at the Sci-Tech Complex. It was attended by Choe Dong Myong, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, along with government officials, workers, and other invited guests.
Kim Sung Bin, Chairman of the State Science and Technology Commission, delivered the opening address, urging all participants to actively share their research and innovations. He emphasized the importance of contributing to the complete implementation of the recent party plenary decisions.
Following the ceremony, attendees toured the exhibition hall.
