A national industrial art exhibition is now going on in Pyongyang to celebrate the Day of the Sun, the birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.
The exhibition serves as an important occasion in promoting a radical development of the nation’s industrial art. When going round the State Industrial Art Exhibition House in April Juche 101 (2012), respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un called for creating more industrial art works reflecting the aspiration and desire of the popular masses.
Over the past five years, 18 000 industrial designs for over 400 objects were created by creators of the industrial art creation units, ministries and national institutions and teachers and students of different educational institutions. Among them are those, which were personally examined by Kim Jong Un, like the facade decoration design of the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, wreath-laying stand design of the Fatherland Liberation War Martyrs Cemetery and emblems of the Pyongyang Bag Factory and the Mindulle Notebook Factory.
On display at the exhibition are also designs and models of 5-ton truck, 80-horsepower tractor and other vehicles and foodstuff trademarks of the Changsong Foodstuff Factory, Pyongyang Corn Processing Factory and other factories. In the past years, the Central Industrial Design Administration, the leading body in the field of the country’s industrial art, have produced mark and tablet designs of public buildings in Samjiyon County of Ryanggang Province, signboard designs of public service facilities in Ryomyong Street and many other designs and made achievements in deliberating, registering and protecting designs.
The administration has registered many designs, including trademarks of the Pyongyang Hosiery Factory and the Wonsan Shoes Factory, at the World Intellectual Property Organization. It has also revised or supplemented the law, rules and regulations on industrial design, trademark and advertisement design, while encouraging citizens to have a clear understanding of the intellectual property protection.
