The Paegam Deer is living in Paegam County, Ryanggang Province of Korea.
Paegam County with very favourable conditions for inhabitation of the deer is a typical habitat of deer in Korea. The region with many high mountains and deep valleys is thick with tall trees and shrubs and there are a lot of herbaceous plants, mosses and Lichenes, providing good conditionsfor food. And several tributaries flowing from the Sodu Stream provide a lot of water sources.
The deer move in fours or fives along the region not dense with trees but with many open spaces and grasslands. The Paegam Deer was designated as a living monument in January 1980 and it is protected and propagated.
