Kumsanpho, situated at a west sea port of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), is a location where a diverse range of processed fish pickles is manufactured.

Various marine delicacies, including tiny shrimp, anchovy, and shellfish, undergo pickling and processing at this facility. The establishment of this modern factory is attributed to the foresight of the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un, who envisioned enhancing the dietary options for the people.

Taking a hands-on approach, the General Secretary spearheaded the construction of the factory in Kumsanpho, overseeing its site selection and actively participating in the planning process. Furthermore, he provided specific guidance and measures for the construction and even bestowed a name upon the facility.

In January Juche 106 (2017), the General Secretary visited the newly completed Kumsanpho Fish Pickling Factory. During the inspection, he emphasized the importance of diversifying the range of fish pickles by incorporating not only tiny shrimp but also shellfish, anchovy, sand eel, and other varieties. The General Secretary displayed a keen interest in understanding the marine resources available in the West Sea during different seasons, aiming to optimize the production of fish pickles accordingly.

Acknowledging the diverse preferences of the populace, the General Secretary advised the factory officials to produce an assortment of shrimp pickles with varying levels of salinity and spiciness. Additionally, he provided instructions to ensure the reasonable pricing of processed fish pickles.

The products from the Kumsanpho Fish Pickling Factory are distributed to specialty shops and stalls across the country, making them available to the people throughout the year. This distribution network is seen as a manifestation of the General Secretary’s deep concern and affection for the well-being of the people.
