The Songchongang Forwarding Company which is situated in Haean District, Hamhung, South Hamgyong Province, is making innovations in the aquatic production and processing in an effort to implement the policy of the Workers’ Party of Korea to enrich the people’s dietary life by adding lustre to the history of “gold seas.”
It is fully equipped with material and technological conditions for catching and processing fish, including more than ten fishing vessels and bases with sophisticated processing facilities.
When the vessels fully loaded with fish return home, the caught fish are speedily transported to processing grounds.
The company has creditably carried out its annual fish catch plans, by hauling a variety of fish all the year round, such as hard-finned sandfish, squid, anchovy, Chinoecetes opilio, mackerel, and herring.
At the processing grounds with ample conditions and facilities for ensuring hygienic safety and freshness in fish processing nearly 30 kinds of processed goods are produced in large amounts.
The company has introduced quick-freezing method to retain the natural tastes for fresh fish and other preserving method into fish processing. As a result, its processed products, dried, quick-frozen and pickled, are favourably recognized as they are fresh in taste and high in quality. There is also sea-water breeding ground capable of keeping fishes alive, so as to supply them to commercial service establishments. The company’s products are popular among the people.
