In households across the nation, products bearing the trademark of “Samilpo” have become ubiquitous, ranging from TVs to electric rice cookers and household heaters.
These products are widely utilized in the homes of the people, originating from the Samilpo Electronics Factory located in the Samgol-dong area of Pyongyang, Sadong District. Initially established in September of Juche 64 (1975), the factory, originally named Taedonggang TV Transmitter Factory, introduced its first black-and-white TVs under the brand “Taedonggang.”
Transitioning to the production of color TVs shortly after, and further propelled by the momentous occasions of the 80th birth anniversary of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung in Juche 81 (1992) and the 50th birth anniversary of the Dear Leader Comrade Kim Jong Il, the factory embarked on a path of progress. It received support from the Central Standing Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions, marking the establishment of the patriotic Color TV Assembly Plant.
Driven by a commitment to meet the demands of the people, the factory embarked on endeavors to modernize and digitize TV production, particularly focusing on the assembly of digital liquid crystal TVs.
The digital liquid crystal TVs produced in the factory have garnered praise for their performance. Furthermore, the factory is actively engaged in new product development ventures, extending beyond TV production to encompass various electric and daily use appliances, in response to the needs of the people.
Vice Director Min Kwang Hyok emphasized, “While the factory could have limited its scope to TV production alone, it has expanded its range of industries, attentive to the demands of the people.”
Through this journey, a multitude of electric and daily use appliances have been prolifically manufactured. Exhibitions such as the 13th Pyongyang Department Store Product Exhibition and the Industrial Product Exhibition “Industrial Development-2023” have recently showcased the products of this factory, receiving high acclaim.
