A new photo exhibition has opened in Pyongyang to highlight the city’s ongoing transformation and urban development in recent years.
Titled “Our Capital Pyongyang, Greatly Transformed in the Era of Kim Jong Un,” the exhibition marks a significant April anniversary and offers a visual summary of the capital’s architectural evolution and modernization efforts.
The event features over 380 photographs, capturing some of the city’s most iconic and recent construction projects – including large-scale developments and uniquely designed buildings – that reflect the government’s focus on urban renewal and infrastructure improvement.
A key highlight of the exhibition is documentation related to Ryomyong Street, a major development project in Pyongyang. Photographs and archives illustrate the vision and direction behind the project.
The exhibition aims to provide visitors with a direct and comprehensive look at the capital’s transformation, showcasing the scale, speed, and ambition behind these changes. Organizers hope it instills a sense of national pride and motivation among citizens.
The opening ceremony took place on April 13 at the Okryu Exhibition Hall and was attended by senior officials, city planners, workers, and students.
During the ceremony, Ju Chang Il, a senior official of the Workers’ Party of Korea, delivered remarks emphasizing that Pyongyang’s transformation is not merely the result of a decade of development, but a product of focused leadership and planning aimed at making the capital a world-class city.
He expressed hope that the exhibition would inspire both pride and renewed commitment among workers and party members.
Visitors to the exhibition shared their appreciation of Pyongyang’s progress and voiced optimism about the city’s future as a modern, livable, and symbolic capital of the DPRK.
