The Monument to Party Founding was built to tell forever the undying exploits of the great leader Kim Il Sung, the founder of the Workers’ Party of Korea.
It is in Munsu Street, Taedonggang District, Pyongyang, the capital of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
It was unveiled on October 10, Juche 84(1995), on the occasion of the 50th founding anniversary of the WPK.
The monument intensively shows the character of the WPK as a mass party of Juche type and the great exploits in blazing a new path of the revolutionary party building. It also reflects the invincible might and high prestige of the WPK single-mindedly united around the leader and the firm will of the party and the people to carry forward the idea and cause of the leader to the end. The ideological and artistic value of the monument is further emphasized by sculptures and calligraphy.
Three large reliefs showing the historical root of the party and the might of single-minded unity of the party and the popular masses have been depicted well in a formative and artistic way inside the girdle wrapping the three main tower bodies.
The slogan “Long live the WPK which organizes and guides all victories of the Korean people!” embossed on the girdle of the monument and the Korean letters reading “Paekjon” and “Paeksung” meaning “Invincibility” atop apartment houses behind the monument further emphasize the character of the monument. It stresses that only victory and glory are in store for the WPK advancing, single-mindedly united around the leader.
The monument is located in a very significant place.
It was built in the middle of Munsu Street directly opposite the Grand Monument on Mansu Hill with the bronze statues of the great leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il. It clearly shows that the WPK is a dignified party shining with the names of the great leaders and that the history of the party is associated with their lives.
The Monument to Party Founding will shine forever as a witness of history showing the glorious struggle and undying exploits of the WPK.
