Kangwon Province is in the eastern part of Korea. It has been changed beyond recognition in recent years. In December Juche 105(2016), the respected supreme leader Kim Jong Un visited the Wonsan Army-People Power Station.
While commanding a bird’s-eye view of the gigantic Wonsan Army-People Power Station, a creation of self-reliance, with an air of satisfaction, he saw the letters “Self-Reliance” written on the dam for a long time. Pointing at the large-size letters, he said he is really encouraged and the Wonsan Army-People Power Station has proved once again that self-reliance is the only way out and we can do anything when we regard self-reliance and self-development as a motive force. Building the Wonsan Army-People Power Station was a big project as it is a large-scale basin-change-style hydroelectric power station generating electricity by making head after diverting the river stream from the West Sea to the East Sea.
Such a tremendous project was completed by people in Kangwon Province with their own efforts.
Kim Jong Un said the creative strength and wisdom of the people harnessing the grand nature are inexhaustible and added that nothing in the world can break the indomitable spirit of the people to build a powerful socialist country with their strength, technology and resources.
Kangwon Province could be changed under the leadership of Kim Jong Un who visited it several times a year sometimes on a snowy winter day or sometimes in midsummer heat to infuse the people with the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance. Can be taken as examples are the Masikryong Ski Resort, the sea of apples in Kosan, the Songdowon International Children’s Camp, the Wonsan Baby Home and Orphanage, the Wonsan Primary and Middle Schools for Orphans, the Wonsan Leather Shoes Factory, the Kangwon Provincial Tree Nursery, the Sondowon General Foodstuff Factory, the Wonsan Disabled Soldier’s Bag Factory and so on.
Today, too, the people in Kangwon Province are vigorously advancing in the van of the building of a powerful socialist country. Kim Jong Un said the fighting spirit and merits of the people in Kangwon Province are a valuable treasure to be handed down forever in the history of the Workers’ Party of Korea and called upon the entire people to follow their spirit and dynamically speed up the building of a powerful socialist country.
The Korean people will surely build a powerful socialist country with their own strength, technology and resources in firm unity around Kim Jong Un.
