After the liberation of Korea from Japan’s colonial rule, President Kim Il Sung took measures to search and develop all mineral spring resources in the country and build rest centers and sanatoria for the people in the areas of mineral and hot springs and those with fresh water and air.

On his way for field guidance, leader Kim Jong Il saw a hot well and saw to it that its area was turned into a cultural recreation ground for the people. When walking round Hwangjin Hot Spring in a village of North Hamgyong Province in September Juche 98 (2009), he underscored the need to let much more people get the benefit of the spring.

During his recent field guidance to the hot spring area in Yangdok County of South Phyongan Province, the respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un visualized the plan to spruce up the area as a comprehensive and modern model spa, a tourist and cultural destination for the people.
