Farmers across the country have confidently taken the first steps in this year’s agricultural work.

The General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea has stated, “To ensure a good harvest, those responsible for agriculture and the farmers themselves must fulfill their responsibilities and duties.”

Following the decisions made at the 11th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee, agricultural workers nationwide are striving to increase grain production. Workers and officials in the agricultural sector are tackling this year’s farming tasks with great enthusiasm and determination.

In both the western grain-producing regions, such as South Hwanghae Province, and the eastern farming areas, officials and workers are fully engaged in preparations for the year, such as transporting fertilizer and repairing agricultural machinery.

For instance, in Unryul County, officials at Samri Farm are working closely with farmers, helping with fertilizer distribution and listening to their feedback to develop scientific farming strategies. They are learning lessons from last year’s farming results to plan more effectively. Meanwhile, farmers are focused on producing organic fertilizers and soil enhancers, resulting in growing fertilizer stocks across the fields.

In Gapsan County’s Sapyeong Farm, workers have also been active since the beginning of the year, transporting large amounts of fertilizer to the fields. Despite challenging farming conditions due to the area’s high altitude (800–1,100 meters above sea level), the farm has achieved remarkable results by enriching the soil and adopting scientific farming methods tailored to local conditions. Last year, the farm exceeded its grain production target, harvesting over 9 tons of rice per hectare, surpassing the national grain production plan.

Now, the farm is recording strong results in securing materials for seedbeds, repairing machinery, and producing fertilizer, laying the groundwork for this year’s farming success.

These efforts are not limited to a single region; farmers across the country are united in their dedication to agricultural preparations for the new year. For them, the fields are not just places where crops grow but are also vital to the nation’s progress and the people’s well-being.

A farmer from Cheongsang Farm in Huichon City, who was honored as a model worker and photographed with the General Secretary, expressed her gratitude, saying, “I never imagined receiving such recognition. I only worked with the determination to contribute to the nation’s food supply. This motivates me to achieve even greater results in the fields I am responsible for this year.”

This sentiment is shared by agricultural workers throughout the country, who are confident that 2025 will be a year of significant progress and success.
