Kim Un Hwa, a music teacher at Segil High School in Kangso District of Nampo City, returned to her alma mater after graduating from Nampo Teachers’ College over 20 years ago.

Specializing in vocal music, she was entrusted with leading the school’s music ensemble. Filled with confidence from her own experiences, she initially found it challenging to manage the ensemble due to the diverse ages, skill levels, personalities, and hobbies of the members.

While her knowledge of instrumental accompaniment was limited, an inspiration struck her while watching a mass gymnastics and artistic performance.

Observing the seamless integration of gymnastics, dance, backdrop, and lighting effects, she believed that ensemble training could be approached similarly.

Acting on this idea, she began creating multimedia materials and visual aids for ensemble training. Concurrently, she sought advice from university professors to deepen her understanding of instrumental music and accompaniment techniques, continually improving her skills.

Her ensemble’s prowess grew over time, achieving victories in national student arts festivals. Notably, her 10-year-old student, Cho Mae Gon, welcomed the new year in 2024 by singing for the esteemed Comrade Kim Jong Un.

Kim Un Hwa was honored as an exemplary teacher on October 8 and received numerous teaching aids, experimental equipment, and instructional materials. She also had the privilege of attending the 14th National Teachers’ Congress, where she had the honor of taking a commemorative photo with Comrade Kim Jong Un.

She believes that “there’s not a single student without talent. The key for educators is to accurately identify and nurture these budding talents.”
