Educational institutions in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea are actively working to enhance teaching contents and methods, aiming for a more specific, diverse, and practical approach. Kangwon Province is particularly committed to reducing the educational disparities between urban and rural areas, as well as between the capital and the provinces, while also elevating university education standards.

To achieve these goals, the provincial people’s committee has assembled a dedicated team of teachers and researchers from universities under central authority, collaborating closely with the Ministry of Education. This team provides intensive guidance to provincial universities, including Wonsan University of Agriculture, through practical training sessions, experience sharing, and scientific exchanges.

The committee also keeps university faculty, researchers, and students informed about global trends in educational development. They showcase the successful practices and experiences from various universities to inspire and guide educational advancements.

Om Chol Ryong, Senior Official of the Provincial People’s Committee, states: “Our province’s universities are benefiting from the successful methods and experiences of central authority universities. These include strategies for refining teaching contents and methods, and introducing research-based teaching into specialized subjects. We are also sharing successes in training students in machine design and languages. Our aim is to align the quality of education in our province with that of central authority universities.”

The province frequently hosts presentations on research-based teaching methods and organizes contests for multilingual students. These initiatives foster the exchange of innovative teaching practices and contribute to educational excellence.

Through these efforts, educational officials in Kangwon Province are reaffirmed of the importance of continually innovating educational structures, contents, and methods to meet evolving needs and realities.
