Although anywhere in the Paektu Mountain area, hidden in the dense forest, is remarkable, the natural scenery of Rimyongsu is truly unique.

The magnificent sight of large and small waterfalls pouring down from natural cliffs of exquisite shapes, and the graceful appearance of the scenery unfolding in beautiful lights amidst the mist.

On the cliff shrouded in mist, a pavilion elegantly lifts its corners high, resembling a painting.

However, this magnificent scenery cannot be felt as merely a product of nature.

On an unforgettable day in June 1956, at the tender age of 10, leading the first exploration troop to the revolutionary sites in the PaektuMountain area, the great General Kim Jong Il visited this place. He quietly spoke after asking his comrades if they had any thoughts upon hearing the gentle sound of the Rimyongsu Falls.

He said he thought that the anti-Japanese guerrilla fighters, who marched to Pochonbo in the past, must have also heard the sound of the country’s water, and those who followed the Leader and overcame all trials to march to the homeland could drink the clear water of Samjiyon and hear the beloved sound of the country’s water…

Pausing his speech, the great General emphasized that especially when the situation is tense and the country faces difficulties, we must deeply engrave in our hearts the victorious conviction of the anti-Japanese guerrilla fighters who steadfastly walked the path of revolution with the Leader and be prepared to fight to the end for the completion of the Korean revolution.

Following the noble intention of the Fatherly General on that day, since then, countless people and soldiers of the Republic have been conducting explorations to the revolutionary sites in the Paektu Mountain area, strengthening their minds and bodies with the spirit and vigor of Mt. Paektu.

Even now, if one listens quietly, it seems as if the meaningful words of the respected Marshal Kim Jong-un, who visited Rimyongsu Falls during the historic horseback march in December four years ago, still resound clearly.

The unyielding water of Rimyongsu Falls that does not freeze even in harsh cold is indeed the spirit of our strong people who advance without yielding in the storm of sanctions and pressure…

The more one reflects, the more the magnificent appearance of Rimyongsu Falls seems to bring forth the heartwarming and unforgettable historical stories of those days.

Rimyongsu-dong, which was once just a small forest village.

With the holy footsteps of the great figures etched in the sacred Paektu frontline, the natural scenery that lay hidden for thousands of years now casts such a brilliant light, doesn’t it?
