In the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, teachers in Pyongyang City are driven by the awareness that they bear the responsibility of educating the next generation. The Phyongchon District Teachers’ In-Service Training Centre is committed to elevating the qualifications of teachers through the development of innovative teaching methodologies.
Through collaborative teaching, the centre actively engages in joint lesson reviews with instructors and in-service teachers across different subject areas. Director Won Hye Gyong explains that this approach fosters discussions on teaching experiences and new methods, which are then disseminated to all teachers through refresher training and teaching material short courses.
