Preparations for the 20th World Taekwon-Do Championships are in full swing in Pyongyang, the capital city of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

According to Kim Chol Ryong, department director of the Korean Taekwon-Do Committee, an organizing committee involving experts and others concerned was formed. Diverse projects have been pushed forward for the successful championships to be held for the third time in the DPRK, the cradle of Taekwon-Do.

Modernization and repair of the Taekwon-Do Hall are under way at the final stage. Its total floor space was expanded and its interior including training rooms for martial arts and Go, rooms for referees and press conference and resting rooms spruced up.

The hall, opened on September 10, 1992, was the venue for the world Taekwon-Do championships twice and the World Juvenile Taekwon-Do Championship.

An emblem for the championships was already designed. Meanwhile, Taekwon-Do players of the DPRK are training hard to prove successful at the championships.
